[Project Background] The RAPID (Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development) project in Malaysia is a large-scale integrated refining and petrochemical complex invested and constructed by Petronas in Pengerang, Johor. It is one of the largest petrochemical projects in Malaysia to date in terms of investment scale.

[Role of Chinese Enterprises] China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Co., Ltd. (HQCEC, a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation) undertook the EPC turnkey contract for the polypropylene plant and related facilities within the RAPID project, participating in the construction of core units for this world-class integrated refining complex.

[Scope of Services] L4 EPC turnkey contract, responsible for the engineering design, equipment procurement, and construction of the polypropylene production plant and related auxiliary facilities.

[Project Outcome] The RAPID project was completed and commenced operations in 2019. The units constructed by Huanqiu Engineering were successfully completed and handed over to the owner.

[Significance] China National Petroleum Corporation's system engineering company served as the EPC contractor for core units in a top-tier petrochemical project in Southeast Asia, demonstrating the competitiveness of Chinese chemical engineering enterprises in the international high-end market.
