Leveraging the technological and talent advantages of CAS-affiliated institutions—such as the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics—the institute has established experimental platforms in clean coal technologies, green hydrogen and energy storage, and CO₂ resource utilization. It possesses CMA-certified testing capabilities for coal-based chemical composition analysis and catalyst performance evaluation, and has obtained ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification.  

The institute leads multiple key R&D projects funded by Shaanxi Province and subtopics under CAS’s Strategic Priority Research Program. It participates in drafting the construction plan for Yulin’s national demonstration city for modern energy economy and supports preliminary technical feasibility studies for hundred-thousand-ton-scale CCUS demonstration projects implemented in Yulin by China Energy Group and Yanchang Petroleum Group. It has also co-established a “Clean Energy Joint Laboratory” with Yulin University.  

Currently, the institute is advancing construction of an integrated pilot-scale base for wind, solar, hydrogen, and energy storage, and is engaging in cross-regional technical collaboration with energy research institutions in Ordos, Taiyuan, and other locations.
